Barnardo’s - Here I am

‘Here I am’, shares the stories of 2 young people who have experienced varying forms of exploitation and abuse and are now at different stages of engagement with exploitation services. The film captures in their words, the multifaceted nature of exploitation and the need to work in a trauma responsive and future focused way. The films are presented as 360 experiences so that the audience gets to feel that they are present in these situations and consequently more likely to think and consider their own perspectives, practices and attitudes.

 
 

Sam’s Story

In this film you are ‘in the shoes’ of 17-year-old Sam who is attending his final meeting with a specialist worker from an exploitation service. After experiencing multiple harms Sam details the impact this has had on his ability to feel safe and engage. During this meeting he looks back on his experience and the positive support he has received.

Leah’s Story

This film puts you ‘into the shoes’ of 14-year-old Leah, who has been exploited and is accessing recovery services for the first time. Leah has had several negative experiences with professionals in the past and, while waiting for the meeting to start, she looks back on her past experiences and imagines how this session will go
